From the Organizing Committee of The 12th China Jiaozuo International Taijiquan Competition and the 2025 Yuntai Mountain Tourism Festival
JIAOZUO, China, Sept. 22, 2025 – The official opening ceremony for the 12th China Jiaozuo International Taijiquan Competition and the 2025 Yuntai Mountain Tourism Festival took place on September 15th in Jiaozuo City, Henan Province. Centered around the theme “Meet in Jiaozuo · Gather at Yuntai · Share Taijiquan,” the event successfully blended athletic contests, cultural tourism, and commercial and trade activities. The extensive program included Taijiquan competitions and demonstration exchanges, diverse cultural and tourism experiences, industry collaboration events, and initiatives aimed at promoting consumption.
Jiaozuo is recognized as the birthplace of Taijiquan. Significantly, on December 17th, 2020, UNESCO formally added Taijiquan to its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. In addition, Yuntai Mountain, celebrated globally for its distinctive canyon landscapes, holds the distinction of being among the world’s initial global geoparks and is a top-tier national 5A-level tourist attraction.
Referred to as the “One Competition and One Festival” (which encompasses the International Taijiquan Competition and the Yuntai Mountain Tourism Festival), this event stands as a comprehensive celebration deeply rooted in Jiaozuo’s unique identity. It capitalizes on the worldwide appeal of “Taijiquan” and “Yuntai Mountain”—two globally renowned cultural and tourism intellectual properties—by integrating sporting events, cultural tourism, and economic and trade engagements. Since its inception in 1992, the “One Competition and One Festival” has been held for 11 successful sessions. This has significantly fostered the integrated progress of Jiaozuo’s culture, sports, and tourism sectors, while also playing a vital role in broadening external collaborations and exchanges for Jiaozuo and the broader Henan Province.
