Over 50 master chefs have carefully selected 250 restaurants to present the genuine flavors of Hong Kong’s neighborhoods

HONG KONG, Jan. 22, 2026 — Hong Kong has long held a reputation as one of the world’s top food cities, built on contrasts. It’s a place where simple street stalls coexist comfortably with elegant Michelin-starred restaurants, and where “Great Taste” can be found all over Hong Kong. This season, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is celebrating the city’s rich culinary culture by launching Taste Hong Kong, a new gourmet guide developed in partnership with the Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI). It invites visitors to experience the city through the perspectives and appetites of its master chefs.
Taste Hong Kong is a chef-curated culinary guide to the city’s diverse neighborhoods. More than 50 master chefs, all graduates of CCI’s prestigious Master Chef Course in Chinese Cuisine, have jointly handpicked 250 restaurants across Hong Kong, highlighting the places they keep coming back to. The guide offers a thorough and refined overview of the city’s culinary scene, featuring a rich variety of Chinese cuisines along with an array of international flavors. It includes traditional noodle shops, classic dessert parlors, family-run local treasures, artisanal cafes, high-end hotel restaurants, and Michelin-starred fine dining spots. Going beyond ordinary rankings and awards, the guide provides an authoritative, insider view of the city’s most authentic and unique gastronomic experiences.

Taste Hong Kong offers an insider’s guide for food lovers, from refined fine dining experiences to popular local favorites like cha chaan teng, as well as hidden gems such as local desserts and claypot rice.
The chefs themselves are at the core of Taste Hong Kong. As the creative forces behind some of Hong Kong’s most well-known restaurants, they bring a unique perspective on what makes a great meal and what allows a restaurant to last. Among them are well – known figures like Adam Wong and Lee Man – sing, who have each provided personal recommendations that reflect both their culinary backgrounds and their strong connection to Hong Kong’s dining culture.
“When I think about Hong Kong food, I think about the neighborhood places I always return to, like dai pai dongs, cha chaan tengs, and small restaurants that represent the city’s daily dining culture. These places show how locals really eat and the city’s culinary essence. I’m excited to be part of this guide because it gives visitors a real way to experience Hong Kong through the food and neighborhoods that locals know and love,” says Adam Wong, a 3 – star Michelin Executive Chef at the Forum Restaurant.
“I’ve always believed that some of Hong Kong’s best food can be found in the simplest settings, whether it’s a comforting bowl of noodles or a hot pot shared with friends. The restaurants featured in Taste Hong Kong are places with history, consistency, and heart. They explain why Hong Kong is one of the world’s most exciting cities to dine in,” says Lee Man – sing, Executive Chef of Mott 32 Group.
Designed for both visitors and locals, Taste Hong Kong organizes its 250 selected restaurants by neighborhood. With different neighborhoods represented, travelers are encouraged to explore beyond the well – known dining areas and experience the distinct character of each place. From the sizzling woks in busy street kitchens to the quiet neighborhood favorites passed down through generations, the chefs’ choices give visitors and locals a deeper understanding of Hong Kong’s rich culinary heritage and vibrant diversity, leading them to the true “Great Taste” of the city.
The guide is supported by a wealth of digital content, including neighborhood videos and curated maps, hosted on the campaign’s dedicated website. A downloadable digital version of the Taste Hong Kong guide will also be available, serving as a convenient tool for planning meals and exploring neighborhoods. QR codes will be displayed at various MTR stations, bus shelters, and visitor signs across neighborhoods. HKTB will also broadcast the “Taste Hong Kong” promotional video at major tourist attractions, prominent shopping malls, and hotels throughout the city, strengthening Hong Kong’s status as a global gourmet capital where excellent food can be found everywhere, often in the most unexpected places.
