China Medical System Holdings Limited’s CMS-D008, an innovative INHBE-targeting siRNA drug, presented its preclinical results at the ADA Scientific Sessions. This is a significant development in the fight against obesity.
CMS-D008 targets the INHBE gene, reducing Activin E protein levels and blocking Activin E-ALK7 signaling. This leads to effective fat accumulation reduction. In obese animal models, it achieved significant weight loss and fat reduction while preserving muscle mass.
The drug’s preclinical data is promising. In high-fat diet-induced obese mouse and cynomolgus macaque models, it significantly reduced INHBE mRNA expression and related protein levels, suppressing weight gain.
CMS-D008 could be a game-changer. It may offer a new treatment option for abdominal obesity and related metabolic diseases. With 6 self-developed products in clinical stages and more in preclinical research, CMS is committed to innovation.
