DayOne Launches Johor Regional Hub for Operations and Training, Grows Kuala Lumpur Shared Services Center

ISKANDAR PUTERI and KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Feb. 12, 2026 — DayOne Data Centers, a global hyperscale data center platform based in Singapore, today unveiled a new regional operations and training center in Johor and the expansion of its Global Shared Services Center (GSSC) in Kuala Lumpur. This move strengthens Malaysia’s position as a key operational hub for DayOne’s Asia-Pacific network.

The Johor center will act as DayOne’s regional base for operations and skills development, bolstering the company’s growing presence throughout Asia-Pacific. It is set to train upwards of 1,000 data center operations engineers in the coming years, cultivating technical professionals such as site supervisors, lead engineers, and operations managers for assignments across the region. The training curriculum emphasizes practical, hands-on operations, with instruction in managing AI-ready infrastructure, optimizing energy and water use, upholding safety protocols, and ensuring operational resilience.

“Malaysia is now experiencing a second phase of AI and digital infrastructure growth, which focuses not just on construction speed but on responsible planning, management, and operation of these assets,” stated Jimmy Yan, General Manager of DayOne Malaysia. “Johor is DayOne’s origin point in Malaysia, and it is now where we are cultivating operational expertise that is deployed regionally. This demonstrates how ‘Made in Malaysia’ proficiency can achieve regional scale.”

Concurrently, DayOne is growing its Global Shared Services Center (GSSC) in Kuala Lumpur, which is now in Phase II of its development. At full capacity, it is projected to hire over 200 local specialists.

The Kuala Lumpur GSSC provides global support for DayOne in areas including finance, accounting, investment, procurement, and corporate functions. It establishes high-value, knowledge-intensive positions in Malaysia and embeds local professionals directly into the company’s worldwide operational framework.

Johor was DayOne’s initial entry into the Malaysian market and has since become its largest market in the Asia-Pacific region. It is now transforming into a regional platform, anchored in Malaysia, that oversees operations management, talent cultivation, and supply-chain localization for DayOne’s broader network.

In addition to its direct investments, DayOne’s activities in Malaysia have created substantial economic ripple effects. The company currently employs approximately 600 Malaysians, with direct hires anticipated to rise to about 1,500 by 2026.

Since 2022, DayOne has channeled more than RM14 billion into Malaysia, with an additional RM67 billion earmarked for the next two years. Procurements from local Malaysian contractors, engineering companies, equipment vendors, and professional service firms are estimated to eventually sustain roughly 4,000 more jobs. These investments have fostered the growth, upskilling, and long-term career development of Malaysian professionals within the data center sector and related industries.

“These results are the product of years of consistent investment and skills development,” remarked Jamie Khoo, CEO of DayOne Data Centers. “Malaysia has played a pivotal role in DayOne’s evolution, and the capabilities forged here are now aiding our regional activities. We view Malaysia as a strategic, long-term ally in constructing and running the next generation of AI and digital infrastructure.”
