Pony.ai and Mowasalat Launch Robotaxi Service on Doha’s Public Roads in Qatar

DOHA, Qatar, Sept. 05, 2025 — Pony AI Inc. (Nasdaq: PONY), a leading company in the large-scale commercialization of autonomous driving technology, has announced a partnership with Mowasalat (“Karwa”), Qatar’s largest transportation provider, to deploy self-driving vehicles on the country’s roads. This collaboration furthers Pony.ai’s “autonomous mobility everywhere” vision and expands its Middle Eastern presence to include Dubai, Qatar, and other key markets.

As part of this partnership, Pony.ai’s robotaxis have recently commenced public road testing in Doha, Qatar’s capital. This initial phase, which includes onboard safety operators, is a key step in adapting autonomous driving technology to Qatar’s specific driving conditions. The trials focus on tailoring Pony.ai’s autonomous driving systems to the country’s weather, road infrastructure, and traffic patterns.

Mowasalat, wholly owned by the Qatar Investment Authority and overseen by the Ministry of Transport, manages Qatar’s largest ground transportation fleet, encompassing taxis, buses, limousines, and corporate transport services. Its strong local connections and extensive infrastructure make it an ideal partner for Pony.ai to introduce autonomous mobility solutions in Qatar. This partnership directly supports Qatar National Vision 2030’s objective of transforming the nation into an advanced society through sustainable development.

“This deployment with Pony.ai is a major step towards achieving Qatar’s National Vision 2030,” said Eng. Ahmed Hassan Al-Obaidly, CEO of Mowasalat. “Building on our success in managing world-class transport operations during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM, we are now incorporating advanced autonomous driving technologies into our transportation system. This will improve the efficiency and safety of our services and contribute to the sustainable development of Qatar’s infrastructure. This initiative aligns with our strategic goals to innovate and deliver cutting-edge solutions for the people of Qatar.”

“This partnership is a significant milestone in expanding our global presence by creating ecosystem synergies through collaboration with local partners,” said Dr. James Peng, Chairman and CEO of Pony.ai. “Qatar offers a unique environment for autonomous driving deployment, and Mowasalat’s extensive local knowledge makes them an ideal partner. Together, we aim to develop a robust and scalable autonomous driving solution that promotes sustainable mobility throughout the region.”
