SHANGHAI, Sept. 15, 2025 — The 2025 Shanghai (TCS 2025) event officially launched at Zhangjiang Science Hall, featuring the theme “Challenge and Solution”.
With an expanded scope, TCS 2025 welcomed delegations from over 110 cities spanning Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Africa. Discussions were primarily centered on four core domains: Tomorrow.Technologies, Tomorrow.Mobility, Tomorrow.Environment, and Tomorrow.Utilities. More than 100 exhibitors showcased advanced solutions, highlighting China’s growing prominence in smart city innovation and fostering new avenues for international collaboration. The agenda comprised 20 Industry Roundtables, 32 City Shows, and over 40 Closed-Door Meetings, all aimed at facilitating knowledge exchange and accelerating project implementation.
The event also hosted the ceremony for the Region & China Smart City Awards. These accolades recognize Asia’s most impactful initiatives in digital transformation, low-carbon transition, and public service innovation. Among the eight recipients of the Best Projects (X-SDI) Award were the Department of Town and Country Planning (PLANMalaysia), Malaysia Sepang Municipal Council, and Thailand Chonburi City Municipality, along with entities from Kazakhstan, New Zealand, Oman, the UAE, and China. The Leadership Awards – Leader distinction was conferred upon the Principal Architect of Thailand’s Smart City Capacity-Building Programs and a member of the Core Execution Team.
During the opening ceremony, international delegates underscored the critical role of innovation in developing resilient, sustainable cities. The inauguration of Tomorrow.City Community Shanghai marked the establishment of the global network’s first physical hub, providing a trusted platform for collaboration and project acceleration. To complement this milestone, the Collaboration List of City Challenges & Opportunities was released in conjunction with 16 international cities, outlining priority areas such as smart governance, green transition, and infrastructure renewal to cultivate deeper global partnerships.
