BEIJING, Sept. 15, 2025 — The “2025 New Technology Symposium on Retinal Peripheral Vision and the First VPR Clinical Academic Exchange Conference” took place in Hangzhou on September 3, 2025. Hosted by the Chinese Association of Pathophysiology and the Ophthalmology Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Pathophysiology, and organized by Beijing NineStars Intelligent Medical Equipment Co., ltd., the conference centered on the launch and clinical application of wide-field retinal peripheral refraction defocus measurement technology (VPR). Over twenty leading ophthalmologists from China and abroad attended to discuss VPR’s application in myopia prevention and control, refractive surgery, cataract surgery, and other areas. The conference provided a high-level platform for advancing ophthalmic diagnosis and treatment towards precision and personalization.

Professor Chen Youxin, conference chairman, stated in his opening speech that peripheral retinal vision assessment is a major challenge in myopia research and refractive surgery. VPR technology is expected to address this challenge and drive breakthroughs in ophthalmic diagnosis and treatment. Professors Yao Ke, Lyu Fan, Zhou Xingtao, and Pablo Artal followed with speeches highlighting VPR’s innovative wide-field measurement method, which significantly enhances diagnostic and treatment accuracy and personalization, making it invaluable to ophthalmology’s development and patients’ visual health. The VPR technology release ceremony, witnessed by conference attendees, marked the official transition of wide-field retinal refractive topography technology from R&D to clinical practice, providing a new impetus to ophthalmology practice.
