2 MCWD directors to end term on New Year’s Eve

TWO members of the Metropolitan Cebu Water District’s (MCWD) Board of Directors (BOD) will formally end their term on the last day of the year.

Lawyer Francisco “Frank” Malilong Jr., who serves as MCWD BOD’s vice chairman, will formally end his term on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2022. Malilong will be replaced by lawyer and former Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu City Chapter president Earl Bonachita.

Aside from Malilong, fellow BOD member and lawyer Manolette Dinsay will also end his term on the same day. Dinsay will be replaced by fellow lawyer Danilo Ortiz.

Malilong, who represents the education sector, assumed office in January 2020 with fellow lawyer and incumbent MCWD BOD chairman Jose “Joey” Daluz III, lawyer Manolette Dinsay, and engineer Miguelito Pato.

On Dec. 16, the board’s last meeting for the year, Daluz, Pato and fellow MCWD BOD member Jodelyn May Seno, and newly appointed MCWD General Manager Edgar Donoso presented a plaque of appreciation to Malilong in recognition of his wholehearted service and remarkable contribution in achieving the water district’s mission of providing adequate, safe, potable, and affordable water to the residents of Metro Cebu.

But Dinsay, who represents the civic sector, was unable to attend the last meeting.

‘Satisfying’

Malilong described his term as a “very satisfying one” and he welcomed Bonachita who attended the meeting.

“I’m sure you will have a very able replacement in the person of Attorney Bonachita. I’d like to ask the same support that you gave us, you also extend to Earl. Welcome, Earl. I hope you [will] enjoy your stay,” Malilong added.

Malilong has actively participated in crafting MCWD’s strategic plans and direction for the next 10 years.

He was also instrumental in the implementation of projects for additional water sources like the commissioning of new wells and the completion of the Lusaran Bulk Water Project. (JKV, PR)
