Bohol-based Alturas Group opens hardware store in Panglao

THE Alturas Group of Companies is riding the economic momentum of Bohol by expanding its hardware business—Fixrite.

The homegrown firm opened Fixrite Hardware-Panglao on Dec. 8, 2022, in Barangay Bolod, Panglao, Bohol, a few kilometers away from the Bohol Panglao Island International Airport.

The store offers a wide range of products, from simple hand tools for repair needs to plumbing, construction and electrical supplies, serving as a one-stop shop for all hardware needs. It also offers construction materials and aggregates such as sand and gravel, as well as hollow blocks and basic lumber products.

“We are thrilled to provide customers with great products at amazing prices, all in one place. We want to give them the convenience of being able to find everything under one roof, so they can easily get their hands on the supplies they need without having to go to multiple stores,” said Mitch Suarez, Fixrite Hardware-Panglao store manager.

“We are proud of this accomplishment which is also proof of the hard work and dedication of the team and a promising step forward for the store. We look forward to serving the community for years to come,” she added.

Alturas’ expansion of its hardware business came timely as the economy on the island recuperates from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Giant real estate companies, even those based in Cebu are now resuming their business expansion plans for this eco-tourism destination that should generate employment and increase the spending power of the Boholanos.

Wholesale and retail trade were among the main contributors to Bohol’s economic growth in 2021 alongside the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, education, and information and communication.

Bohol’s economy grew 4.3 percent last year from a decline of 6.3 percent in 2020, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. The island’s gross provincial domestic product (GPDP) was valued at P159.9 billion in 2021, a little bit lower than the pre-pandemic GPDP level of P163.6 billion in 2019 but higher than the GPDP in 2020 valued at P153.3 billion.

Major economic industries that include agriculture, forestry and fishing, industry and services all posted positive growths in 2021 with 1.3 percent, 4.8 percent, and 4.7 percent, respectively. All industries registered growth in 2021, except for transportation and storage which contracted at two percent.

Since its inception, Fixrite Hardware has been focused on providing high-quality products at affordable prices. The expansion to Panglao is a testament to the company’s commitment to serving the people and meeting the needs of its customers.

“Fixrite Hardware-Panglao is hoping to be a valuable addition to the community. The store’s convenient location, a wide range of products, and affordable prices make it the perfect destination for anyone looking to take on a home improvement project or tackle a repair,” the company said.
