Cebu City releases allowances for over 4K student-scholars

THE Cebu City Government has released transportation and school supply allowances to 4,792 students of private schools University of Cebu (UC) and Cebu Eastern College (CEC), and government-run Cebu Technological University (CTU).

These students are accredited by the Cebu City College Scholarship Program (CCCSP).

Recipients who are based in mountain barangays will receive P5,000 as their transportation allowance.

Students of UC and CEC will receive P1,000 for their supply allowance, while CTU students will get P2,500.

These allowances are an addition to the City’s P10,000 aid for the tuition of students attending private schools. The CTU students will not receive this amount, as tuition at state universities and colleges is free.

Mayor Edgardo Labella said the City Government is trying to keep the program going in the city as it is for the students’ future.

“Our government is working to keep the program going so we can help more students,” Labella said in Cebuano on his official Facebook page.

Cebu City scholars were urged to bring their identification cards from the school where they are studying to claim their allowances at CCCSP. Recipients who lost their IDs need only to submit their pictures and signatures.

Students who cannot claim the allowances in person can send their representatives who only need to bring an authorization letter, and photocopies of the scholar’s ID and representative’s ID. (PAC / KAL)
