Couple killed after bus plows into their motorbike

A MAN and his wife died after the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a passenger bus outside a cement factory in Barangay Tinaan, City of City, Cebu on Sunday morning, June 27, 2021.

The fatalities were identified as Perelyn and Julian Dosdos. The couple, both 40 years old, resided in Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City.

Julian was a security guard for a bank.

The bus driver, identified as Silverino Boro, was injured. The bus is owned by Southern Transport.

Initial investigation showed that Julian was driving the motorcycle with his wife as his passenger. They were on their way to Cebu City when they figured in the incident, said SSgt. Jonathan Largo of the Naga City Police Station.

The motorcycle had stopped in front of the APO Cement to allow a trailer truck to cross.

The bus suddenly rear-ended the motorcycle and plowed into it, pinning the couple.

Boro was injured after the bus hit the trailer truck driven by Benjie Aguilar, who was unharmed.

Largo said the bus was also headed for Cebu City and Boro might not have spotted the stationary motorcycle in front of it.

Judging by the wreckage of the motorcycle, the bus was speeding, Largo said.

Elemt Baculao, 38, said the victims were his in-laws.

He said they had a get-together in a beach resort Saturday night, June 26. But on Sunday morning, Baculao said he and the victims decided to go home early, while their relatives stayed behind.

Baculao was driving his own motorcycle with his live-in partner as his passenger. They left the beach with the Dosdos couple.

When they reached APO Cement, the traffic aide stopped them abruptly.

Baculao said he and his live-in partner witnessed the bus plow into his in-laws’ motorcycle.

Boro will face reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property if the Dosdos family will not settle with him and his company. (GPL / KAL)
