Demecillo faces Lindog in Toledo fundraiser

CARLO Demecillo is aiming to score his first win in 2022 and end the year with a bang as he takes on tough Kim Lindog in the main event of “Joyful Showdown – Boxing For a Cause in Toledo City” on Dec. 14.

The year 2022 hasn’t been good to the 26-year-old Demecillo, who started the year with an eighth-round technical knockout loss in Japan on April 24. Demecillo then settled for a split draw with BJ Wild last Oct. 15 in Consolacion.

“This will be a very good fight because Carlo is hungry for a win and wants to rise up from a defeat and a draw this year,” Big Yellow Boxing Gym head coach Christopher “Ping-Ping” Tepora told SunStar Cebu. “I know Lindog won’t waste his three-fight winning streak, that’s why we expect a great fight.”

Lindog won all of his fights in 2022 — beating Anthony Galigao by unanimous decision, Marzon Cabilla via a third-round stoppage and Mark Glen Antara by unanimous decision. After losing 10 straight fights since 2017, Lindog is now on a three-fight winning streak.

Demecillo is 15-6-2 with eight knockouts, while Lindog is 8-13-1 with five knockouts.

In the main supporting bout, Toledo City’s very own fighting cop Jusue Bastillada (3-1, 1 KO) locks horns with Matthew Fondales (1-3) in a four-rounder.

In the undercard, Rhonvex Capuloy (9-2, 6 KOs) trades leathers with Reymond Empic (7-6, 3 KOs), Anthony Gilbuela (5-2-1, 1 KO) tests his mettle against former world title challenger Vergilio Silvano (21-10-1, 12 KOs), Ramil Roda (1-0-1) goes up against Dariel Diamante (0-1), John Kevin Jimenez (1-0, 1 KO) takes on Jelou Libres (0-1) and Ulymark Moras (0-1) opens up the event against Zaire Espedilla (0-2).

Some of the proceeds of the event will be given to children with special needs. (EKA)
