DTI-Cebu transfers SSF ownership to pancit canton makers in Boljoon

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Cebu Province announced that it has transferred the ownership of the shared service facility (SSF) for squash pancit canton making to the Makugihong Mananagat sa Arbor (MAMSA) in Boljoon, Cebu after having successfully proven that the cooperative can sustainably manage and operate the facility in accordance with the objectives of the DTI project.

The ceremonial signing of the deed of donation was held on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022.

DTI Cebu Provincial Director Rose Mae Quiñanola said the SSF is a response to the cooperative’s needs in technology and skills upgrading which directly impacts their revenue.

The beneficiary, MAMSA, is an organization of fishermen and farmers of Barangay Arbor in Boljoon.

According to MAMSA general manager Camila Geralla, the barangay is rich in squash, which is one of the agricultural products of the farmers in the municipality. A few members of the organization also have experience in pancit canton making as they have been employed in the industry for some time.

With the desire of the organization to have an enterprise, it was thought that pancit canton making is a good option.

The organization acquired noodle-making equipment under the shared project worth P260,500. This includes a bagger noodle mixer, noddle roller machine, noddle cutting machine, misua cutter and miki cutter.

MAMSA has assisted 70 beneficiaries in 2021 and generated total sales of P1.1 million since its establishment in 2015.

Geralla also expressed her gratitude for the government project. She said the organization commits to continually upgrading the skills of its farmers and increasing
