Ganoza loses to Shigeoka in WBO AsPac fight in Japan

ANOTHER Pinoy pug suffered defeat in Japan after Yudai Shigeoka knocked out Cris Ganoza in the third round of their World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific minimumweight title fight at Prefectural Gymnasium in Kumamoto on July 6.Shigeoka controlled the fight early on and was effective with his jab. He pushed the pace in the second round and landed some heavy blows on Ganoza.Finally, in the third round, the 25-year-old Shigeoka landed a vicious left to the body that knocked Ganoza out.Ganoza dropped to 19-4 with nine knockouts, while Shigeoka continued his unbeaten run and improved to 5-0 with five knockouts.Ganoza is the second boxer to lose in Japan in July.Jestine Tesoro earlier lost to Kenji Fujita by unanimous decision in Tokyo Japan.Five other Filipino fighters are fighting in Japan in July – four-division world champion Donnie Nietes, Presco Carcosia, Froilan Saludar, Jhon Gemino and Jon Jon Estrada.Nietes challenges WBO super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka on July 13 at the Ota Gym in Tokyo. Carcosia, Saludar and Gemino are also seeing action on the same show.Estrada, on the other hand, is fighting Kyonosuke Kameda on July 23 at the Edion Arena in Osaka.
