PB Member John Ismael “Jiembo” Borgonia said a resolution that he authored allowing the governor to file charges was approved without further delay during the PB’s regular session on Monday, March 6, 2023.
Borgonia was referring to the two lots in Apas that the Provincial Government donated to the Philippine Constabulary (PC) in 1959. These were intended to be the sites of the PC’s barracks and headquarters.
Lot 1157 has a land area of 25,962 square meters, while a portion of Lot 1158 has an area of 25,583 square meters.
Half of Lot 1158 of Banilad Estate was donated to the Third PC Zone on Sept. 15, 1959 by then governor Jose Briones.
It is indicated in the deed of donation that the lots will be returned to the Province if these are not used for the intended purpose.
The Third PC Zone currently serves as quarters of the Police Regional Office 7 officials, contrary to what was stipulated in the contract.
On Jan. 29, 1991, the PC and the Integrated National Police were merged into one to form the Philippine National Police.
Borgonia said it is possible that the lawsuit will involve regaining possession or ejection. (ANV / TPT)
