Man nabbed for P7.1 million shabu in Liloan town

A 21-YEAR-OLD man was arrested in a drug bust in Barangay Tayud, Liloan town, northern Cebu for having in his possession P7.1 million worth of illegal drugs.

Operatives of Provincial Intelligence Unit of the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO) headed by Lieutenant Colonel Lester Eteroza conducted the operation that led to the arrest of Rafael Carnicel alias Raprap, a resident of Sitio Magsaysay, Barangay Pasil, Cebu City, at 9:30 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2023.

The police conducted a personality case buildup against the suspect prior to the raid after receiving information about his illegal drug activity.

Seized from Carnicel were 1.05 kilos of substance believed to be shabu amounting to P7,140,000.

Police learned that the drug distribution network of Carnicel has reached as far as Bogo in the north and Minglanilla in the south.

Police turned over the drug evidence to the Provincial Forensic Unit for an examination.

CPPO Director Colonel Rommel Ochave vowed to continue the fight against illegal drugs.

“Patuloy pa din ang ating operation. Dito sa Cebu Province, marami tayong mga huli ngayong araw, ito ang pinakamalaki. And despite yung ating 600 personnel ay nakadeploy para sa Sinulog, hindi tayo tumitigil sa operation natin sa anti-illegal drugs,” Ochave said.

(Our operation is still ongoing. Here in Cebu Province, we have many catches today, this is the biggest. And despite having our 600 personnel deployed for Sinulog, we continue our anti-illegal drugs operation.)

In 2022, the CPPO was able to seize P184 million worth of illegal drugs through the support of Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

The governor declared an all-out war against illegal drugs during the Provincial Development Council meeting at the Capitol on September 15, 2022. (AYB/TPT)
