More government properties stolen in Mandaue City

THIEVES in Mandaue City have stolen reflectorized lights in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, on Sunday evening, January 29, 2023.

This happened barely a week after a man stole a sewer steel bar in Barangay Bakilid on January 25, 2023.

Captain Ernie Manatad of Barangay Subangdaku said on Monday, January 30, that they noticed some of their reflectorized lights were missing along the portion of M. Logarta Street under the Subangdaku flyover.

“We have noticed that the flame of the reflectorized lights was already not even. So we checked it and saw that some were gouged,” Manatad explained in Cebuano.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) placed the reflectorized lights along the streets to guide motorists and avoid crossing the wrong lanes and meeting accidents.

Manatad said they are set to review all the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage relating to the incident and identify the culprits.

He said he had already mandated Subangdaku’s village guards (tanods) to conduct more foot patrols along the roads and coordinated with the DPWH for the stolen lights’ replacements and maintenance from the City Engineer’s Office.

Manatad added they are now working on the replacement of stolen government properties with the city government. (HIC)
