Night of gratitude, music at Club Serena

IT IS truly the most beautiful time of the year at Moalboal, Cebu’s Club Serena Resort as it welcomes the holiday season with a dazzling Christmas tree lighting ceremony held on Nov. 18, in partnership with the Rotaract Club of Cebu.

In his keynote speech, Club Serena Resort general manager, RJ Bautista, gleefully shared the tree lighting’s theme: “Hope in the Stars,” which centered around commemorating the camaraderie displayed by the people during the pandemic and after the onslaught of several disastrous typhoons that hit the province of Cebu.

Bautista also teased new and upcoming facilities to be added in Club Serena Resort’s future.

This year, the resort’s 12-foot-tall Christmas tree stands as a beacon of hope while promising good tidings for anyone that sees it. The Christmas marvel adds to the modern Filipino vernacular theme that the resort is centered around.

The event was also graced by heartwarming performances from Cebu Technological University’s Moalboal Ensemble Harmonic and Company (CTU Moalboal-MEHC), headed by Joseph R. Daan, its musical director and trainer.

The ensemble is a beneficiary of Club Serena Resort and Rotaract Cebu’s efforts, as proceeds go to the improvement of the ensemble’s costumes and instruments.

Recently, the group placed second in the PASUC Cultural Meet 2022 and have since received much acclaim for their efforts.

With guidance from its advisers, school management and the rest of the organization’s officers, the CTU Moalboal-MEHC is steadily developing into a fully functional musical organization. It has set ambitious goals for itself and is well on its way to becoming a showcase for the university’s musical prowess. (CDT)
