Promodiser stabbed by own kin who suspected him of being police asset

A PROMODISER ended up in the hospital after he was stabbed in the early hours of Sunday morning, December 18, 2022, in Sitio Sampig, Barangay Mantalongon in the southern town of Dalaguete, Cebu.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Raymond Selvano Glipa.

Police arrested his relatives, 49-year-old Alejandro Besin Glipa and 25-year-old Jimmy Aventorado. The third suspect, 23-year-old Brian Requina Glipa, is at large. All three are farmers.

Major Gilfred Baroman, chief of the Dalaguete Police Station, said the victim was sleeping with his family when he was awakened by a loud knocking on the door around 3 a.m.

Baroman said the three suspects were believed to be drunk at the time of the incident.

He said when Raymond opened the door, Alejandro and Aventorado pulled him outside while Brian started stabbing him.

Neighbors noticed the commotion and went out of their houses to check, prompting the attackers to flee.

When police arrived, they found Alejandro and Aventorado, but Brian was nowhere in sight.

According to Baroman, the motive for the crime was revenge.

The police chief said Alejandro, who was arrested for illegal possession of firearm last October, suspected Raymond of being a police asset and of ratting him out.

The three suspects will be charged with frustrated murder. (GPL, PJB)
