Solo Lovin’ this Valentine’s day

Who said Valentine’s Day is just for couples?

It’s the 21st century– you do you, honey!

To all the single, ready to mingle or not here are five ways to celebrate the truest form of love– SELF-LOVE.

DISCONNECT

Take a day off!

Turn off your phone, put your laptop away, and just unwind.

You can stay in your bed the whole day or book yourself a staycation whether in the City or outside Cebu.

What’s important is you disconnect yourself from the various stressors in life and just allow yourself to relax, sleep, and simply destress.

ONLINE CLASS

Here’s a unique idea, why not enroll yourself in an online class? No, we’re not talking about the academic online class, but online classes that teach painting, pottery, yoga, and so much more!

It’s a great way to find something that piques one’s interest. Who knows, you might find your new hobby!

COOKING

Cooking is a great way to relax.

For some who aren’t experts in cooking, one can rely on online classes or even videos posted online that will guide you step by step.

For those who’ve got magic in their hands, why not try to experiment on a new dish.

One thing’s for sure, make sure Uncle Roger doesn’t see your egg fried rice if it doesn’t match his standards!

RECITE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS

To be honest, we’re hardest on ourselves. We give others the love they don’t deserve to receive and yet, we’re incredibly scrutinous on ourselves.

Take this day to meditate, exercise to release endorphins (the body’s happy hormone), then recite positive affirmations.

What you can do is face the mirror and to start, say “I am beautiful, I am strong, I am more than enough.” Keep repeating those until you feel good and accept the affirmations.

Don’t just do it on Valentine’s day, silly! Start from there and continue until you become what you speak of.

SPEND TIME WITH PEOPLE WHO MATTER

Call up your parents, siblings, aunt, best friend/s, whoever!

Valentine’s day isn’t just for romantic couples out there. Go against the norm and spend time with those who truly matter.

As long as you’re following safety protocols, take a day trip around the City or better yet, explore the untouched beauty of the province. You’ll be surprised that there’s more to life than just romantic partners.

There’s so much beauty in life that in fact, one shouldn’t need Valentine’s day just to appreciate their lover or whatever they have. A lover, too, doesn’t complete life.

Celebrate yourself. Celebrate family. Celebrate life.

Skip on buying flowers and chocolates on this day, they’re honestly a tad overpriced!
