Talamban rehab on lockdown

TWO out of 120 clients of a drug rehabilitation facility in Barangay Talamban, Cebu City were found positive of SARS- CoV-2, the virus that causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

With majority of their employees and clients possibly exposed to the virus, the Cebu City Emergency Operation Center (EOC) has ordered a lockdown on the facility.

Councilor Joel Garganera, EOC deputy chief implementer, said they are still awaiting the results of the swab tests conducted on the rehabilitation facility’s other personnel and their clients.

Garganera said for the past few days, the management of the rehab facility initially tested their clients through antigen test and discovered that 14 of them tested positive for Covid-19.

This prompted them to seek the EOC’s help.

Garganera said they can’t yet determine who among the facility’s clients or personnel was the source of the infection.

For now, the EOC decided to lock down the facility’s two buildings for at least 14 days as a way to prevent the spread of the virus to the rest of the facility and the surrounding communities.

But Garganera said if more people within the facility turned out positive for Covid-19, they will have them transferred to their quarantine facility.

To assist those being quarantined at the rehabilitation facility, the City has sent relief and food aid there to last them for two weeks. (JKV)
