Tungasan, Olango barangay captain demands justice over councilor’s death

JUSTICE is the only thing that Tungasan, Olango Barangay Captain Trigonia Abayan wants over the murder of her fellow public servant Jose “Sadam” Quiros.Abayan said on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 that she could not believe that someone was determined to kill Quiros, who was an incumbent councilor of Tungasan at the time of his death. The village chief said she was like a second mother to Quiros, who was gunned down in Barangay Tungasan, Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City on Sunday night, May 8.The Police Regional Office in Central Visayas said last Monday, May 9 that the gunman was already identified, and it ruled out that the crime was related to the elections.Olango police investigator Erwin Perez Suson said they are looking into personal grudge as the reason behind the murder.Quiros had reportedly been in a relationship with a woman that turned sour, which Suson said still needs validation. The councilor’s family has requested for an autopsy on the victim, and it has vowed to help the police in the investigation, according to Suson.Quiros was identified as a supporter of Lapu-Lapu City Rep. Paz Radaza, who offered P300,000 to any person who can provide information that will lead to the culprit’s arrest. (GDC)
