WITH the recent conclusion of the first Cesafi Esports League (CEL) preseason for Valorant, hosts Eureka M. Galarrita and Frenchy Rondina got a chance to sit down and talk with the champions USJ-R Adelante on Aug. 4, 2023 inside SunStar Cebu’s studio.
Present in the interview were flex player Kurt “Asta” Laurido, captain Alfi “vblack” Lua, initiator “Richnel “Reign” Cabugoy, duelist Kenn “ster” Bolondro and coordinator Troi “ItsMeTroi” Cahilog. The team was asked about the preparations for the preseason.
They said that as players, they always give importance to their mental preparation and keep their confidence high. This is why they have no doubts, they said. They also explained that unpredictability and confidence were the key strategies that made them a strong team during the preseason.
When asked about how it feels after being crowned as the Valorant preseason champion, vblack said: “The title lets the other teams know that we aren’t an easy opponent.” This answer from the team’s captain is a testament that the players are ready to face any opponent in the second season of CEL.
Furthermore, the team members shared that their most memorable experience was the teamwork, fun times and the constant reminder of facing the pressure as a team.
The second season of the CEL is nearing. With USJ-R’s strategies during the preseason proving to be effective, it is likely that its players will remain as top contenders of the competition in Season 2.
