Utzurrum: Marco Polo Hotels observe Breast Cancer awareness month

Marco Polo Hotels in Hong Kong and the Philippines will be swathed in clinical pink until Oct. 31 to accentuate Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Both countries will join forces to offer ”Pinktober” dining treats. Part of the proceeds will be pledged to the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry, the Medical City in Manila and ICanServe Foundation Cebu Chapter, to benefit the charities’ psychosocial counselling for families and breast cancer research.

On this page are two Pinktober activations: The Pink Highball mocktail is a cold brewed oolong tea infused with apple juice, peach puree, and finished with a splash of grapefruit juice. Cocktail fans will love Pink Osmanthus Sour, a blend of aromatic Osmanthus flowers and Aperol with citrus notes and a hint of bitter.

Both beverages are available at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu’s Blu Bar and Grill and Lobby Lounge.

Another treat at the Lobby Lounge of Marco Polo is the Pink Velvet cake available in two sizes. Here’s more on the Pink Strawberry Entremet Cake at Marco Polo Ortigas: The fresh Strawberry and hazelnut base has layers of Croquantine, strawberry jam and mousse, and is available at the hotel’s Café Pronto.

To better spread the Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness theme, the hotel’s façade lighting will be illuminated in pink.

So, think and wear pink this October, everyone!

We’d also like to congratulate two prestigious and best-loved establishments in the tourism industry: Café Laguna on its remarkable 31 years of consistent native food quality and Bayfront Hotel’s two branches. Happy 8th birthday to the North Reclamation Area, and a happy first anniversary to its Capitol Site branch.

To Bayfront’s founder and managing director Charlton Cokaliong, many more years and branches!

Still another birthday today is that of well-loved, Manila-based food and nostalgia writer and columnist Chona Trinidad, who joined her Creator at the age of 90 last month.

Chona, who was a frequent visitor to our Queen City, loved her pristine beaches and “therapeutic” ambiance, and would most certainly anticipate a change from imperial Manila!

From her many friends in Cebu, look up to Heaven today, and greet her with a prayer and a happy birthday!
