UV went ballistic from beyond the three-point arc in the fourth period to put away UC and put themselves within a win away from winning the championship in Game Two on Tuesday.
The Green Lancers were ahead by just 13, 63-50, early in the fourth when they started hitting their stride from the outside. Rookie forward Ivo Salarda started the telling run with a triple. Team captain Ted Saga and Albert Sacayan followed suit with four straight trifectas in a scintillating run that put them up by 31, 88-57.
Veteran wingman Jiesel Tarrosa led the way for UV with 21 points and five rebounds, while Sacayan had 16 markers highlighted by five three-pointers. Saga finished with 15 markers, 13 of which came in the final stanza.
Paul Galinato and Michael Diaz had 10 points apiece for UV, which last won the Cesafi title 12 years ago.
