Job fairs, cash aid distribution set on Labor Day

THE DEPARTMENT of Labor and Employment (DoLE) on Monday said it will hold job fairs and distribute cash aid to beneficiaries of its employment program for displaced workers on May 1, Labor Day.

“This early, the Department is encouraging jobseekers to be ready with their application requirements, such as resume or curriculum vitae, certificate of employment for those formerly employed, diploma, and transcript of records,” it said in a statement.

The Department of Trade and Industry, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Professional Regulation Commission, Department of Foreign Affairs, and Department of Migrant Workers will also be participating in the job fairs, it said.

DoLE will also work with the Department of Agriculture to roll out more Kadiwa stores on May 1 to allow farmers to sell goods directly to consumers at lower prices.

The labor department has said it would provide more capacity-building programs and job fairs this year to address joblessness.

Last month, DoLE said it would work with public and private stakeholders to finalize a national labor and employment plan this year. John Victor D. Ordoñez
