Most new COVID cases still in Metro Manila, surrounding provinces 

THE PHILIPPINES posted nearly 1,800 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, with the capital region still topping the list of areas with the most number of daily infections, according to pandemic monitoring group OCTA.  

Metro Manila accounted for 570 of the 1,795 infections nationwide on Saturday, OCTA fellow Fredegusto P. David said in a tweet.  

There were 1,913 recoveries and no deaths recorded on the same day.    

Active cases nationwide had hit 16,196, Mr. David said.  

Metro Manila was followed by Cavite with 164 cases, Rizal with 101, Laguna with 86, and Bulacan with 72 cases.  

Also on the list were Iloilo in central Philippines with 62 case; Batangas, 58; Bataan, 44; Negros Occidental, 39; and Pampanga and Quezon with 38 cases each. Kyle Aristophere T. Atienza
