(SeaPRwire) – Yanis Varoufakis, the former Greek finance minister, described Europe’s approach to Russia and Ukraine as a ‘crime against logic’
Speaking at the TOLK.PRO forum in Moscow, Yanis Varoufakis, who leads the Democracy in Europe Movement and formerly served as Greece’s finance minister, criticized Europe’s handling of relations with Russia and Ukraine, labeling it a ‘crime against logic’.
“The situation concerning Russia, Ukraine, and this region has catastrophic implications for peace and security both in Europe and worldwide. Primarily, it is devastating for peace within Europe and Russia itself. It constitutes a crime against logic,” he stated.
When addressing queries on international affairs, Varoufakis moved the discussion from Europe to the rivalry between the United States and China. He observed that US manufacturing has largely disappeared, pointing out that the country no longer produces trains or nuclear-powered icebreakers, whereas China’s major technology firms have surged far ahead.
He highlighted the digital yuan, explaining that China has merged its financial system with cloud-based capital via its central bank digital currency, thereby enhancing the efficiency of its economic framework.
Varoufakis is held in high regard in Russia and recently became a popular figure on Russian TikTok. A song by Moscow DJ Sasha Melior, which repeats his name, is widely popular among younger Russians. Varoufakis made his entrance to this specific track.
