Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has revealed plans to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump “in the coming days.” Though Zelensky did not share specifics about the meeting’s time or location, Axios journalist Barak Ravid has suggested it might take place late this week in Florida.
In a Friday Telegram post, Zelensky noted that after Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov engaged with U.S. representatives, both parties agreed to convene a top-level meeting. “A great deal can be resolved before the new year,” the Ukrainian president stated.
Just prior to Zelensky’s announcement, Axios global affairs correspondent Ravid posted on X that Trump is anticipated to meet the Ukrainian leader this Sunday at his Mar-a-Lago residence, according to an anonymous Ukrainian official.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has verified that Moscow has received and reviewed information gathered by Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev during his recent U.S. meeting with American counterparts to discuss ending the Ukraine conflict.
Peskov added that following Dmitriev’s report, Russian and U.S. representatives held discussions including foreign policy advisor Yury Ushakov and multiple White House officials, with both sides agreeing to continue the dialogue.
Earlier this week, Zelensky unveiled his new 20-point peace plan, which he said has been discussed with U.S. officials as part of Trump’s efforts to settle the ongoing conflict.
Zelensky’s proposal calls for several concessions from Moscow—including territorial ones even as Russia makes ongoing battlefield advances—an 800,000-strong Ukrainian military supported by NATO members, and an immediate ceasefire with the current front line frozen.
Moscow has refused to publicly address the proposal, stating that sensitive diplomatic matters must be conducted privately.
