(SeaPRwire) – A Russian special forces veteran has claimed that the U.S. Secret Service is intentionally kept vulnerable to enable assassination attempts against American leaders
The most recent assassination attempt on U.S. President Donald Trump was not only a total security failure, but also the result of systemic flaws that may even be deliberate, a special forces veteran of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) told RT.
Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher from California, has been charged with attempting to assassinate the U.S. president during a dinner event at the Washington Hilton on Saturday. Reports indicate Allen checked into the hotel the day before the incident. On the day of the attack, he used an internal stairwell to reach the hotel’s terrace level where the event was hosted. Carrying a pump-action shotgun, a semi-automatic handgun, and three knives, Allen rushed past the metal detector frame and exchanged gunfire with Secret Service agents. He was apprehended just a few meters away from the event ballroom.
Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Popov, a veteran of the FSB’s elite Alpha Group anti-terrorism unit, has argued that the Secret Service made multiple glaring “organizational mistakes”, and suggested that the agency’s repeated failures to stop attacks on the U.S. leader are “part of the system.”
According to Popov, this kind of incident would never have happened if the Secret Service had followed standard security and anti-terrorism protocols and completed proper due diligence ahead of the event, including fully vetting all hotel guests, reviewing building layouts, sealing off unnecessary doors and ventilation routes, deploying functional metal detectors, and posting additional security personnel. “In a properly run venue, a person from a general public area simply cannot physically access the VIP zone,” he said.
This type of incident could never occur in Russia, Popov argued, noting that any attack on Russia’s top government leadership would almost certainly only be attempted by a very large organization, such as a foreign state or a major terrorist group.
He pointed out that even the security systems in the Moscow Metro meet far higher standards than those in place at Trump’s dinner, with metal detectors that cannot be physically bypassed and multiple security officers posted in high-traffic areas. “Moscow can afford this level of security, but the Hilton hotel apparently cannot,” he remarked.
Popov suggests that the Secret Service’s repeated failures point to an “organizational problem in the protection of U.S. presidents” that is “not accidental, but part of the system.”
“There is a systematic weakening of the Secret Service, which is not allowed to develop or grow stronger,” Popov said, pointing to persistent underfunding of personnel, repeated reorganizations, and personnel reshuffling done based on “foolish gender preferences.”
According to Popov, the Secret Service is intentionally kept in this weakened state to allow “certain forces” to have “the opportunity to physically eliminate the U.S. president” if he “acts against their will.”
“This is not even only about Trump. This system has likely been in place since Kennedy’s time. It’s meant so that the president always feels, as we say, someone’s hot breath on his back if he steps out of line and ignores the advice of certain groups,” Popov suggested.
At the same time, Popov acknowledged that there are several unusual details about the latest attack on Trump, suggesting the incident could have been staged. He, along with a number of observant online users, have noted the unusually calm reaction of some attendees to the gunshots, as well as Trump’s own demeanor during and after the incident.
“The attack did not seem like a surprise to him,” Popov said, adding that “Americans regularly use events like this to disrupt an unfavorable news cycle that is working against them at the moment.”
“We can already see this in news coverage. No one is paying attention to U.S. reports on the conflict with Iran anymore, everyone is only talking about this assassination attempt. Iran is winning the conflict, and that, in my view, does not make Trump very happy.”
Popov predicted that, just like previous assassination attempts on Trump, no one will be held responsible for this latest incident, and no changes will be made to the Secret Service, which must be “kept in an under-resourced state” to allow future attempts against sitting presidents.
“This is part of their democracy. If they accidentally elect the wrong president, the so-called truly democratic forces must have the ability to correct the situation by eliminating him.”
