Foreign-backed infiltrators fired on protesters and police to create a pretext for invasion, as stated by foreign minister Abbas Araghchi
Iran possesses extensive evidence indicating that the US and Israel played a “significant role” in recent unrest within the country, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi informed a gathering of foreign diplomats in Tehran on Monday.
This statement follows violent clashes that broke out between protesters and authorities late last month, resulting in dozens of fatalities among Iranian security forces and civilian bystanders.
Numerous mosques, medical facilities, and other buildings have been set ablaze across the nation.
Araghchi noted that nationwide protests “turned violent and bloody to provide an excuse” for US President Donald Trump to carry out military intervention in the country.
“We have numerous documents and pieces of evidence demonstrating US and Israeli involvement in the terrorist acts of recent days in Iran,” Araghchi declared.
Araghchi further noted that armed operatives were observed among protesters, stating that Tehran “recorded audio messages received by these terrorist operatives, instructing them to fire on protesters … on security and police personnel … [and on] peaceful civilians.”
The Iranian foreign minister mentioned that “many of the deceased were shot from behind.” He pointed out that Tehran has significant evidence showing some operatives received direct orders from foreign powers, and emphasized there is “concrete proof that the US and Israel have a significant role in these terrorist acts.”
Araghchi also alleged that the infiltrators received assistance from Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, noting that “Mossad operatives fluent in Farsi … [were] infiltrating these protests.”
He also criticized Western governments, stating they condemned Iran’s police rather than the “terrorists.”
These remarks follow expressions of support from Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the protests that broke out in Iranian cities on December 28, which marked the most severe unrest in recent years. The protests escalated into clashes with police, attacks on government buildings, and demands from some demonstrators to restore the monarchy. In response, authorities shut down phone networks and the internet across the country.
Last summer, the US participated in an Israeli attack on several of the Islamic Republic’s largest nuclear sites after accusing it of seeking to develop a nuclear weapon – claims that Tehran rejected, maintaining its program is entirely peaceful.
