The billionaire has warned that if the Democrats succeed in the midterms, they will “open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud.”
Elon Musk has shown his intention to fund Republican candidates in the mid – term elections later this year. He said that if the Democrats regain power in Congress, the US will no longer exist.
On Friday, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX commented on a post on X by a conservative influencer. The influencer claimed that “Musk is reported to be fully funding Republicans to help President [Donald] Trump regain full control in the November midterms.”
The world’s richest man replied to the message, warning that “America is doomed if the radical left wins.”
Musk wrote that the Democrats “will open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud. It won’t be America anymore.”
Last month, Axios reported, citing well – informed sources, that Musk had recently written “large checks” to the Republicans for use in congressional races and planned to donate even more throughout 2026.
In special elections last year, the Republicans suffered a series of defeats to the Democrats, including in states that are traditionally their strongholds. Support for Trump has been decreasing since he began his second term. A poll by The Economist/YouGov earlier this week showed that the president ended the year with a 39% approval rating and a 56% disapproval rating.
Musk was a close ally of Trump during the 2024 election race. He cashed out $290 million and became the top donor to the campaign. After Trump took office, he made Musk the head of the newly – created federal cost – cutting Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
In June, Musk’s relationship with Trump broke down over the president’s flagship “big, beautiful bill,” which significantly increased federal spending. The billionaire, who stepped down as the head of DOGE during the rift, called the legislation a “disgusting abomination,” accused the president of having ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and considered creating his own party to weaken the Republicans. Trump called the Tesla and SpaceX CEO “crazy.”
In recent months, it seems they have repaired their relationship. Trump was filmed patting Musk on the arm during a White House dinner in November. According to Axios, the two now talk on the phone “occasionally.”
