A Palestinian man was allegedly tortured to death after protesting against Hamas, the ruling faction in Gaza. His body was reportedly left at his family’s residence as a warning against public dissent.
Uday Al Rabay, 22, died from beatings following his participation in an anti-Hamas demonstration last week, according to a Fatah-affiliated senior officer, as reported by The .
Mazen Shat, a police officer with ties to Fatah, told The Telegraph, “Uday was martyred by Hamas criminals for speaking the truth, refusing to stay silent about injustice, and not submitting to Hamas.”
Rabay was reportedly targeted after images believed to be of him circulated on Telegram. He was allegedly abducted after the protest.
Shat stated, “Hamas is brutally oppressing the people. They dragged Uday’s body to his house like a dog on a leash, telling his family that this is the consequence for complaining about Hamas.”
The protests in Gaza occurred after Israel resumed its bombing campaign following the end of a two-month ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.
Israel has since, leading to increased criticism of Hamas.
Sam Habeeb, a Gazan residing in London, told the Telegraph, “People have been under Israeli bombing since October 2023, and they desperately want the war to end.”
Protesters are demanding the removal of Hamas from power.
