The star of Resident Evil unveils an AI project

(SeaPRwire) –   Milla Jovovich has launched a complimentary tool designed to enhance the long-term memory capabilities of artificial intelligence.

The Hollywood actress has made her foray into the AI sector with MemPalace, an open-source memory utility now available on the collaborative software platform GitHub.

Revealing the project on Tuesday, Jovovich—famed for her performances in Resident Evil and The Fifth Element—noted that she co-developed the free system with Ben Sigman to refine how AI manages long-term data retention.

Released under an open-source license, MemPalace is described by Jovovich as an “agentic memory tool that scored 100% on LongMemEval… higher than any other published results.” The software is currently open for developers to access and adapt via GitHub.

While Jovovich served as the project’s “architect,” Sigman spearheaded the engineering and technical aspects of MemPalace’s development.

The inspiration for the tool stemmed from the actress’s dissatisfaction with current AI retrieval methods. “AI is just not great at finding things… every system out there still has it using keywords,” she remarked, labeling existing techniques as “clunky and messy.”

Comparing current systems to a “huge warehouse… a pile of junk,” she explained that users often struggle to find specific data even in organized files. “I wanted to create a new way to make filing and retrieving more intuitive,” she stated.

The project utilizes the ancient “memory palace” method, which uses spatial organization to assist recall. “Why not create a virtual Memory Palace?” Jovovich asked, explaining that the tool categorizes data into structured “rooms” for better access.

LongMemEval, the benchmark used for the project, evaluates an AI’s long-term memory, including its ability to reason across multiple sessions and track information over time.

Though previously known for her work in fashion, music, and cinema, the Kiev-born, U.S.-raised actress is making her first major contribution to AI development with this release.
