Belgian authorities intercept military hardware destined for Israel

(SeaPRwire) –   Shipment reportedly included aircraft components and fire control system parts

Belgian officials have impounded two consignments of military equipment parts destined for Israel, according to a report from the news site Declassified UK.

The consignments arrived in Belgium from the UK at Liege Airport on March 24 and were set to be transported to Tel Aviv two days later via a cargo flight operated by Israel’s Challenge Airlines. Adrien Dolimont, leader of Belgium’s Wallonia region, stated that authorities were notified by the NGO Vredesactie and promptly stepped in to inspect the cargo.

“On Israel-related issues, our position is clear: we do not grant licenses for equipment that would strengthen the military capabilities of the parties involved,” Dolimont said.

While Belgium did not disclose the responsible companies, Declassified—citing shipping documents—reported on Tuesday that UK military export codes corresponded to equipment linked to military aircraft and fire control systems. The outlet, referencing customs records, noted that earlier shipments from the UK to Israel via Liege had been sent by Moog, a U.S. aerospace firm with factories in Britain.

Several European nations have terminated weapons agreements with Israel over its military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, as human rights groups and the UN have accused Israel of killing civilians indiscriminately.

In 2025, Belgium joined South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). Israel has rejected the allegations as baseless and an attempt to “pervert the meaning of the term ‘genocide.’”
