Iranian General Vows Retaliation Against Trump’s Threats to Houthis

Following U.S. strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, an Iranian general, Hossein Salami, promised a “decisive and destructive” response to any threats. The U.S. military action was ordered by President Trump in response to Houthi attacks.

According to Reuters, Gen. Hossein Salami, a leader within Iran’s military, told state media that Iran would react forcefully if its enemies acted on their threats, in the wake of U.S. strikes against the Houthi group, which the U.S. says is backed by Tehran.

ABC News quoted Salami as stating that Iran doesn’t hide and will announce any attacks it launches.

U.S. Central Command reported conducting precision strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen on Saturday, stating the action was to protect American interests, deter adversaries, and ensure freedom of navigation.

Trump stated on Truth Social Saturday that he had “ordered the United States Military to launch decisive and powerful Military action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen.”

Trump added that it has been over a year since a U.S.-flagged commercial vessel safely navigated the Suez Canal, Red Sea, or Gulf of Aden and that the last American warship to pass through the Red Sea was attacked by the Houthis multiple times four months ago.

Trump claimed that the “relentless assaults have cost the U.S. and World Economy many BILLIONS of Dollars while, at the same time, putting innocent lives at risk.”

His post concluded with a message to the Houthi terrorists: “YOUR TIME IS UP, AND YOUR ATTACKS MUST STOP, STARTING TODAY. IF THEY DON’T, HELL WILL RAIN DOWN UPON YOU LIKE NOTHING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE!”

A U.S. official told on Sunday that the large-scale campaign against Houthi targets in Yemen would continue “unrelenting” until the Iran-backed group pledged to cease attacks on U.S. assets.

He stated on “Sunday Morning Futures” that the campaign will end the moment the Houthis agree to stop targeting ships and drones, but will remain “unrelenting” until then.

The Associated Press reports that the Houthis claim the recent U.S. strikes have resulted in at least 53 deaths and approximately 100 injuries.

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the Houthis, reportedly stated Sunday that they would “confront escalation with escalation.”

Al-Houthi further stated that they would respond to the American enemy’s raids and attacks with missile strikes, targeting its aircraft carrier, warships, and ships. He added that they have additional escalation options if the aggression continues.

has learned that U.S. warships have downed around a dozen Houthi drones since Saturday.

A senior defense official told on Sunday that the drones were aimed at the U.S. Navy’s Truman Carrier Strike Group and were intercepted “well before” they posed a significant threat.
