(SeaPRwire) – Iran adhered to the IAEA framework while the United States withdrew unilaterally from the JCPOA, Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli informed RT India
Iran will not shift its position in negotiations as long as the United States maintains its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, stated Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, Tehran’s ambassador to Beijing.
In an exclusive Tuesday interview with RT India, Fazli said Iran followed International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) rules while the U.S. left the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on its own.
Fazli noted that the terms the U.S. is attempting to enforce lack reciprocity, stating: “Their actions essentially represent a blockade of the Hormuz Strait, and they are also issuing military threats against Iran.”
This tactic is “damaging the negotiating environment,” he remarked. “Their expectation from Iran is not genuine dialogue, but capitulation.”
Fazli clarified that Iran is open to talks under the right circumstances. He added that Iran’s nuclear ambitions are peaceful and based on the nation’s legitimate requirements. “It has consistently complied with the IAEA’s statutes and rules.”
Fazli said that in the previous two negotiation rounds with Iran, when discussions were advancing well, the U.S. “reneged on its commitments and took measures against Iran, resulting in the present situation.”
He emphasized that uranium enrichment is an absolute priority for Iran. “Iran’s entitlement to the peaceful application of nuclear energy, and the enforcement of unreasonable demands on Iran. That constitutes our firm boundary.”
Fazli’s comments emerge as Iranian and American negotiators prepare to travel to Pakistan for a second round of discussions, coinciding with the impending expiration of an unstable ceasefire.
Vice President J.D. Vance is said to head the American delegation, accompanied by former President Donald Trump’s representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. The Iranian delegation will be led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
Both parties are anticipated to reach Islamabad later on Tuesday.
