(SeaPRwire) – CENTCOM reported that an American warship disabled the ship’s engine prior to U.S. Marines boarding the vessel
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has published a video showing one of its warships firing at an Iranian-flagged cargo ship that was later seized by U.S. Marines.
Per CENTCOM, the guided-missile destroyer USS Spruance intercepted the M/V Touska in the Gulf of Oman as the vessel attempted to bypass a U.S.-enforced naval blockade and travel to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas via the Strait of Hormuz.
“After Touska’s crew failed to heed repeated warnings over a six-hour span, Spruance ordered the ship to evacuate its engine room. Spruance disabled Touska’s propulsion by firing multiple rounds from the destroyer’s 5-inch Mk 45 gun into the engine room,” CENTCOM stated, adding that a team from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit later boarded the vessel.
