HSINCHU, Taiwan, December 11, 2025 — With extreme weather events and water security concerns increasingly impacting global climate governance and business operations, AUO has taken decisive steps toward net-zero emissions and sustainable development. In 2025, AUO received the esteemed Double “A” rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), securing top marks in both Climate Change and Water Security categories—an indication of its global leadership in sustainability. CDP praised AUO, stating: “AUO has established an industry standard by promoting environmental transparency and turning commitments into tangible actions.”
AUO has long been a proponent of carbon management and environmental transparency, joining CDP as one of Taiwan’s earliest participants in 2007. Over the past two decades, AUO has steadily strengthened its carbon reduction efforts. In 2010, it rolled out a Product Carbon Footprint Management System that integrates carbon data across the entire product lifecycle. This year, AUO unveiled the One Data Carbon Management Platform, fully digitizing company-wide Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions data to boost accuracy, enable real-time tracking, and enhance decision-making efficiency—accelerating its carbon reduction progress.
For more than a decade, AUO has implemented an internal carbon pricing mechanism, weaving environmental costs into its business operations. In 2025, AUO advanced its efforts by launching carbon credit trading activities, helping enterprises mitigate the impacts of carbon fees. AUO also reaffirmed its pledge to achieve carbon-neutral buildings across all Taiwan facilities by 2030. In 2023, AUO’s headquarters GRC Building* became Taiwan’s first to complete verification, reduction, and offset procedures, earning ISO 14068 Carbon Neutral Verification—an industry-leading milestone.
AUO takes a proactive approach to climate-related risks by adhering to global standards. Since 2019, it has maintained a Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), incorporating global regulatory and market trends into its sustainability framework. AUO issues annual TCFD reports to ensure stakeholders have full insight into its climate governance practices. Aligned with the global “Nature Positive” initiative, AUO published its inaugural Task Force on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) report in 2024, identifying the company’s dependencies on and impacts on natural ecosystems, and implementing mitigation strategies to strengthen resilience.
AUO prioritizes water conservation, reuse, and recycling as core strategies, leveraging AI and IoT technologies to automate equipment and optimize operational processes. In 2024, AUO achieved a 94.7% process water recycling rate and continues to expand the use of reclaimed water to reduce reliance on natural sources. AUO also adheres to international water management standards, earning Taiwan’s first ISO 46001 certification in 2021 and extending system coverage to all Taiwan sites in 2024.
Drawing on its rich experience in low-carbon transformation, AUO established AET SustainTek—a subsidiary offering end-to-end green solutions to help businesses improve energy efficiency and achieve practical carbon reduction results—expanding its sustainability impact across industries.
AUO’s Double “A” rating highlights its leadership in sustainability. Looking ahead, AUO will continue to advance the net-zero transition via technological innovation and data management, bolstering environmental resilience throughout its operations and value chain—positioning itself as a critical player in Taiwan’s journey toward the national 2050 net-zero goal.
Note*:The term “Buildings” in the context of Carbon Neutrality here specifically refers to the emissions produced by AUO’s headquarters building, GRC, during its operational stage.
