Trump Postpones Deadline for Iran’s Energy Infrastructure Action (PHOTOS, VIDEOS)

(SeaPRwire) –   According to the US president, Tehran requested additional time, which he has approved.

President Donald Trump has retreated from his promise to launch attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure, pushing back the deadline by an additional 10 days while stating that negotiations with Tehran “are proceeding smoothly.”

Last Saturday, Trump initially threatened to “obliterate” Iran’s electrical grid if the nation failed to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz to global maritime traffic. Following Tehran’s warning of counterstrikes against regional energy assets, the president delayed his threat by five days on Monday, citing “highly constructive discussions.”

Iran has rejected claims of direct negotiations with the US, despite Trump’s assertion that Iranian leaders are eager for an agreement but worry about domestic backlash if they openly acknowledge it.

“Negotiations continue and, contrary to false reports from the Fake News Media and others, progress is excellent,” Trump stated in a Thursday post on Truth Social.

“At the Iranian Government’s request, this announcement confirms that I am suspending the energy facility destruction timeline by 10 days,” he continued.

The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Turkey, and Egypt previously indicated they were conveying communications between Washington and Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, however, maintained that message delivery should not be considered formal “talks.”
