CHENGDU, China, Oct. 15, 2025 — The Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Culture, Broadcast TV and Tourism recently organized promotional events and took part in travel expos in Singapore and Malaysia. These efforts aimed to further elevate the city’s global tourism identity, “Chengdu, More than Just Giant Pandas,” and to showcase the distinct appeal of “Park City, Happy Chengdu” from various perspectives.

At the Kuala Lumpur roadshow, Chengdu incorporated elements of giant pandas and Sichuan opera face-changing, alongside seasonal city imagery, to create an engaging “Chengdu atmosphere.” Local attendees enthusiastically participated in VR tours and face-painting activities. The VR experience provided a virtual journey from Chengxiang Ancient Town to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System, offering an immersive look into the ancient Shu civilization and effectively stimulating interest in visiting Chengdu.

Chengdu also made an appearance at ITB Asia in Singapore, one of Asia’s premier travel trade exhibitions. The Chengdu pavilion, themed around giant pandas and snow-capped mountains, garnered significant attention from international travel professionals. Many travel agencies expressed eagerness to collaborate, while the Chengdu delegation actively explored potential flight routes and specialized travel itineraries, thereby establishing a strong foundation for future collaborations.

Consistent with Chengdu’s integrated development plan, which merges culture, business, tourism, and sports, the city aims to achieve world-class status as a cultural and tourism destination by 2030. The Southeast Asia promotion successfully highlighted Chengdu’s diverse tourism assets and invigorated the city’s inbound travel sector. With ongoing expansion of international air routes and simplified visa policies, Chengdu is accelerating its transformation into a leading global cultural and tourism hub — a primary gateway for more international visitors to experience and understand China.
