FBI Director Threatens to Sue The Atlantic Over Report on His Drinking

(SeaPRwire) –   Kash Patel has accused the magazine of disseminating “fake news” following its report alleging he is grappling with a severe alcohol problem.

Kash Patel, US President Donald Trump’s FBI Director, has threatened legal action against The Atlantic. This follows the publication of a report by the magazine asserting that Patel is concerned about his employment status due to his “excessive drinking” and “unexplained absences.”

In a post on X on Saturday, Patel stated: “See you and your entire entourage of false reporting in court.” He further labeled the magazine’s reporting as “fake news” and described the impending lawsuit as a “legal lay up.”

Hours prior, Patel’s legal representatives announced that they had cautioned The Atlantic against releasing the article before its publication.

“They were on notice that the claims were categorically false and defamatory. They published anyway. See you in court,” Jesse R. Binnall of the Binnall Law Group posted on X.

The attorney also shared a letter, which he stated was sent to The Atlantic, demanding that the news outlet preserve all communications pertinent to Patel, including details concerning the anonymous sources cited in the article, which was released on Friday.

The Atlantic’s article referenced “two dozen” unnamed officials and insiders who reportedly voiced concerns about Patel’s conduct and issues with alcohol, with some allegedly characterizing his “behavior as a national-security vulnerability.”

“I stand by every word of this reporting. We have excellent attorneys,” Sarah Fitzpatrick, the article’s author, affirmed on MS NOW’s ‘The Briefing’ on Friday.

According to the article, the intelligence chief has allegedly consumed alcohol to such an extent that his security detail has struggled to rouse him on multiple occasions, he has missed briefings, and has at times been “unreachable behind closed doors.”

The report also indicated that Patel feared for his position after the recent dismissal of Attorney General Pam Bondi, a staunch Trump supporter who was terminated earlier this month amidst bipartisan accusations of mishandling the release of the Epstein files.
