(SeaPRwire) – British-Palestinian journalist Abdel Bari Atwan, ranked fifth on the list, has stated to RT that the report conflates criticism with anti-Jewish sentiment.
Israel’s Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism has released its list of the top ten “anti-Semite and anti-Zionist” influencers for 2025.
Six of the ten individuals identified as “influencers” are based in the United States, including conservative journalist Tucker Carlson, far-right activist Nick Fuentes, and commentator Candace Owens. Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, who has become a prominent advocate for the Palestinian cause in recent years, secured the second position, while American influencer Dan Bilzarian was named number one.
In a report issued on Tuesday, the ministry described these ten individuals as people without formal political or governmental roles but possessing significant followings. Their rankings were determined by their level of influence and the “risk” they pose, based on the frequency of statements the Israeli ministry deemed anti-Semitic or anti-Israeli.
According to a recent Pew Research Center poll, the perception of Israel in the United States, which has been declining for years amidst the Gaza conflict, has further deteriorated since the commencement of the war on Iran in late February. The survey indicated that approximately 60% of American adults now hold an unfavorable view of Israel, an increase from 53% the previous year.
British-Palestinian journalist Abdel Bari Atwan, who was placed fifth on the Israeli ministry’s list, told RT that “The Israeli government is actually inflicting huge damage to the Jewish people” by positioning itself as their representative. He added, “The Jews now are suffering because of the Israeli massacres, genocide in Gaza.”
Atwan, who serves as the editor-in-chief of the UK-based Arabic language newspaper Rai Al-Youm, asserted that he could not be an anti-Semite, as he himself is Semitic and advocates for coexistence with Jews.
“We are anti-Israeli wars against Lebanon, against Iran, against Yemen, against Gaza,” he stated. “Israel is not above criticism. So to accuse anybody who is criticizing Israel of anti-Semitism is actually very, very frightening.”
