The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied reports that Hamas has submitted a list of hostages for potential release as part of a ceasefire agreement on Sunday.
Reuters earlier reported that Hamas had reportedly approved a list of 34 hostages for potential release in exchange for a ceasefire. Hamas officials indicated this was contingent upon Israel agreeing to withdraw from Gaza and implementing a permanent ceasefire.
Netanyahu’s office stated in a release that, contrary to these reports, Hamas had not yet provided a list of hostages.
This statement follows Netanyahu’s recent discharge from hospital on Thursday after prostate surgery.
His office confirmed that the 75-year-old was in good health and fully conscious following the procedure.
The Prime Minister has undergone several medical procedures in the past two years. In March, he underwent surgery under general anesthesia, with Deputy Prime Minister Yariv Levin temporarily assuming his duties.
Months before the October 7th attacks, Netanyahu experienced a health issue and was hospitalized in July 2023 due to dehydration after a visit to the Sea of Galilee.
A week after his admission for dehydration, he received a pacemaker implant to regulate his heart rate and rhythm.
Netanyahu’s recent surgery occurred while he is also facing a corruption trial in Israel. He testified in court earlier in December and is scheduled to continue in the new year.
He is also currently overseeing IDF operations on multiple fronts, continuing to target Iranian terrorists and their proxies.
