Trump Backs Away From His Threat to Destroy Iranian Civilization

(SeaPRwire) –   Tehran asserts it has secured a major victory, compelling Washington to accept its ten-point proposal

President Donald Trump has halted his impending strike on Iran’s energy sector, declaring a two-week truce to discuss a lasting peace deal founded on what he called a “workable” ten-point plan from Tehran.

Merely hours after cautioning that “a whole civilization will die tonight” should Iran keep the Strait of Hormuz closed, Trump changed direction after a direct request from Pakistani mediators.

“Following discussions with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, in which they asked me to withhold the destructive force scheduled for Iran tonight, and provided the Islamic Republic of Iran agrees to a COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks,” Trump stated on his social media platform.

He characterized this action as a “double sided CEASEFIRE,” noting that the U.S. has “already met and exceeded all Military objectives.”

The president stated that Iran’s ten-point plan presents a “workable basis on which to negotiate,” with most previously disputed items already settled.

Trump cautioned, however, that the Iranian proposal in its present state is “not good enough,” and he would authorize severe new airstrikes if a final agreement is not concluded by the new deadline.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has declared that talks with the United States will commence on Friday, April 10, in Islamabad, setting aside a two-week timeframe that could be prolonged by mutual consent.

The Council proclaimed a “historic and crushing defeat” for the U.S., asserting that Washington has been compelled to accept Tehran’s ten-point plan as the foundation for discussions. The reported plan entails U.S. pledges of non-aggression, Iran’s sustained control of the Strait of Hormuz, acceptance of uranium enrichment, the removal of all sanctions, the cancellation of UN Security Council and IAEA resolutions, payment of war damages, withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from the region, and a cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including against the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon.

The Council emphasized the necessity of maintaining national unity and described the negotiations as “an extension of the battlefield.” It warned that if the enemy’s capitulation on the battlefield does not yield a political victory, “we will fight side by side on the battlefield until all the demands of the Iranian nation are met.”
