The U.S. military confirmed airstrikes in Yemen targeting a Houthi rebel missile storage facility and command center. These strikes, announced by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on Saturday, aimed to weaken Houthi operations.
CENTCOM stated that the strikes were designed to counter Houthi attacks against U.S. naval vessels and merchant ships in the Southern Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb, and other areas.
CENTCOM’s footage showed F/A-18s deploying; the operation also involved Navy and Air Force assets.
The action, according to CENTCOM, demonstrates its commitment to safeguarding U.S. and coalition forces, regional allies, and international maritime traffic.
While the situation remains active, Houthi fighters have pledged to continue their actions until Israel concludes its Gaza operation. Since the October 2023 Israel-Hamas conflict began, the group claims to have targeted over 100 vessels.
