Yemen Projectile Hits Near Tel Aviv, Injuring Over a Dozen: Israeli Officials

Israeli officials reported that a projectile fired from Yemen landed in Tel Aviv early Saturday, causing minor injuries to sixteen individuals.

Following air raid sirens in central Israel, the Israeli military confirmed that a projectile launched from Yemen had been detected, but interception efforts were unsuccessful.

The military’s Telegram post stated: “Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in central Israel, one projectile launched from Yemen was identified and unsuccessful interception attempts were made.”

While Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have repeatedly targeted Israel with missile attacks since October 2022, this incident marks a rare failure of Israel’s missile defense system.

Israel has responded to these attacks with retaliatory strikes on Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen.

On Saturday, Israeli police reported that a projectile had impacted a Tel Aviv suburb.

The Israeli military announced on Thursday the interception of a missile launched from Yemen, though shrapnel caused substantial damage to a school near Tel Aviv.
